Rules & Regulations
Understanding the rules and regulations governing amateur radio operations in the Sultanate of Oman.
All amateur radio operators in Oman must comply with the regulations set by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and ROARS guidelines.
Amateur Operators Licence
- The license must be available wherever the licensee is operating.
- The operator must produce the license when asked by any authority.
Purpose
- The licensee shall use the station for the purpose of transmitting to, and receiving from, other Amateur Radio Station as part of self-training.
Operator
- The Station shall be operated by the licensee personally.
- The station shall be operated in the presence and under the direct supervision of the licensee.
Transmission of Callsigns
- The operator shall transmit the call sign of the station.
- At the beginning and end of each single transmission.
- At the beginning and end of a series of transmissions between stations.
- At least once every 15 minutes during any single transmission or more.
Messages
The licensee shall address messages only to other licensed amateurs and shall send only:
- Messages relating to technical investigations in plain language.
- Signals (not being in secret code or cypher) which form part of or related to, the transmission of such messages.
Location
- Station means the Amateur Radio Station of the licensee at Main Station address stated in the license such as home or vehicle.
- A temporary location means a location, other than the Main Station Address should be with prior approval from the society.
Logbook
The licensee shall keep a permanent record (Logbook) of all wireless transmissions at the main Station address and all temporary locations showing:
- Dates of transmission
- Times of commencement and end of transmission
