Society Today

A look at the current state of ROARS and our ongoing impact on the amateur radio community in Oman

Where We Are Now

ROARS in the Modern Era

Today, the Royal Omani Amateur Radio Society stands as one of the most active and respected amateur radio organizations in the Gulf region. With over 500 active members and a state-of-the-art headquarters in Muscat, ROARS continues to fulfill its mission of promoting amateur radio across the Sultanate.

Our members operate across all amateur radio bands and modes, from traditional HF voice communications to cutting-edge digital modes like FT8, satellite operations, and software-defined radio experimentation. The society regularly participates in international contests, achieving recognition for Omani operators on the global stage.

ROARS maintains strong relationships with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU), and fellow amateur radio societies across the Middle East and beyond. Our emergency communications network remains on standby to serve the nation when called upon.
